LESOTHO MOVES TO LEVEL BLUE 

The Kingdom of Lesotho’s has now been placed under the Level Blue.

The changes from into effect from 11 October 2021.

Please note that there is a nationwide curfew from 00:00 to 04:00 

 

What you will need to cross the border: 

  • International travellers entering Lesotho must show a valid PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival at the border.
  • Please note that you must enter the country within 72 hours of taking the COVID-19 test.

 

Information pertaining to the border posts: 

  • The border post operational hours are restricted and are also in line with national curfews in Lesotho and South Africa.
  • The operating hours at ports of entry are as follows:
    • Maseru bridge – 06:00 – 22:00
    • Caledonspoort – 06:00 – 19:00
    • Sani Pass Border – 06:00 – 18:00
    • Qacha’s nek – 06:00 – 16:00
    • Van Rooyens Gate – 06:00 – 20:00
    • Ficksburg Bridge – 06:00 – 22:00 hours

 

International travel –        Departing and arrivals including tourists

–        Permitted while observing COVID-19 protocols

–        72-hour negative certificate

Social/ Family Gatherings –        Allow 50% capacity if inside

–        500 people if in an open outdoor setting

–        Observe physical distancing and all other Covid-19 protocols

 

Sports events –        Sports are permitted

–        A division matches to have a maximum of 2500 spectators in open stands and 500 for lower divisions

–        Premier league and for stadiums with sit-ins, allow 50% capacity of the area for spectators

–        The model will work for all sporting codes

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID and vaccine certificate on a prescribed Covid-10 form

–        Always sanitise and wear masks while ensuring physical distancing and all other Covid-19 protocols

Entertainment industry –        Entertainment permitted subject to issuance of permit by the Police

–        Allow 50% capacity for indoor and outdoor entertainment

–        Permitted in only privately owned places

–        Provide not less than 5 security guards/bouncers

–        Events must be completed by 10:00pm

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID and vaccine certificate on prescribed COVID-19 form

 

Gyms –        Open with 30% capacity of the facility inside with ventilation

–        Disinfect surfaces of the equipment’s between use at all times

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID’s and vaccine certificate on a prescribed COVID-19 certificate

–        Observe all other COVID-19 protocols.

Public recreational areas (parks) –        Open while observing COVID-19 protocols

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID & vaccine certificate on a prescribed COVID-19 form

Liquor stores –        Liquor stores operate from Monday to Sunday with normal operating hours in accordance with trading license

–        Those permitted to operate beyond 10:00pm must close by 10:00pm

–        Sit-ins must operate at 50% capacity of the liquor store and must enter by registering with ID and vaccine certificate on a prescribed COVID-19 certificate

Nightclubs –        Nightclubs are allowed to operate at 50% capacity and must close at 11:00pm

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID’s and vaccine certificates on a prescribed COVID-19 form while observing all other COVID-19 protocols

Restaurants and fast foods –        Operate with 50% capacity for sit-ins up to 10:00pm

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID’s and vaccine certificates on a prescribed COVID-19 form while observing all other COVID-19 protocols

Pitso –        Allowed for a maximum of 500 people

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID’s and vaccine certificates on a prescribed COVID-19 form while observing all other COVID-19 protocols

–        Should last not more than 3 hours and be completed by 15:00

Political gatherings –        Only constituency rallies and meetings allowed with 50% capacity inside and 500 people outside

–        Elective conferences allowed with permission from police

–        Should last for 3 hours and not later than 15:00

–        Strictly ensure screening, enter by registering with ID’s and vaccine certificates on a prescribed COVID-19 form while observing all other COVID-19 protocols

Initiation schools –        Initiation schools remain closed
Social activities –        100% restricted and this includes industrial action (picketing, protests and demonstrations)
